Fields & Stadiums

Along with the Salem Civic Center, separate athletic facilities are also part of the James E. Taliaferro Sports & Entertainment Complex. These major-league quality fields, stadiums and courts include: Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium and Salem Football Stadium.

Carilion Clinic Field - Salem Memorial Stadium

This state of the art minor league baseball facility was constructed in 1995 and seats 6,300 fans. It is currently the home of the Boston Red Sox Class A Carolina League farm team, the Salem RidgeYaks, a team that won the league title in 2013.In addition to hosting baseball, the stadium has played host to the USA Olympic Softball team, NCAA baseball, ACC baseball, Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball and various music concerts and festivals.

Salem Stadium

Salem Football Stadium is a 7,157 seat municipal stadium that opened for business in August of 1985 after a rapid construction process. The stadium was actually completed just eight months after its approval was granted and a mere five months after grading on the property began. The stadium was constructed primarily for the city's successful high school football program that has won seven Virginia High School League State Championships since 1996. Salem Stadium has hosted the NCAA Division III Football Championship games, VHSL Championship Football and also hosted music festivals and concerts.

Today, Salem Football Stadium plays host to the Salem High School Spartan Football teams (Varsity and Junior Varsity), local Middle School Football teams, Roanoke College Maroons Football that just joined the DIII and Old Dominion Athletic Conference, numerous band competitions and more! 

Salem Football Stadium Parking Lot Policies:

    Parking lots open on game day at 8am for games that kick off at 2pm or later.
    Parking must be contained within a marked space on the blacktop. Parking on the grass is prohibited.
    Parking is available on a first-come, first-served priority.
    Tailgating and tents are restricted to the space behind a vehicle. However, it is not acceptable to block the roadway or impede the flow of traffic.
    Tents must be secured to your vehicle or properly weighted down as to not blow away. Do not stake tents without the permission of the facility.
    Clean up your area before entering the stadium so it’s safe for you and others.
    Secure your tailgate area before attending the game. Salem Football Stadium is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
    Service animals are permitted. 

For safety reasons, the following are NOT permitted in Salem Football Stadium Parking Lot:

 Blocking the roadway – placing tables, chairs, tents, games, or other items outside of the parking space.
 Sound systems – including large speakers, DJ equipment, and bands.
 Throwing objects – including but not limited to footballs and frisbees.
 Removing, destroying, or cutting boundary ropes, tape, or signs.
 Destroying grass or landscape.
 Glass containers.
 Underage drinking.
 Unauthorized vending, food trucks, or outside catering.
 Soliciting or collection of contributions, distribution of flyers or other materials.
 Open flames, including fire pits.
 Unauthorized vehicles such as sponsor/promotional vehicles, hoverboards, motorized scooters, etc.
 Vehicles parked on curbs, islands, or other undesignated areas. These vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
 Drones or unmanned aerial equipment.
 Commercial tents installed without permission of facility.
 Camping in football stadium parking lot. If camping is needed contact Salem Civic Center to arrange for front Civic Center lot.
