Salem City Council is beginning the process of filling an unexpired term on the Salem School Board. The current term of Rachel Thompson expires on December 31, 2026, and Council is seeking citizens who would be interested in serving the remainder of this period on the board. The individual who is selected will begin serving on July 1, 2024. Mrs. Thompson is stepping down after being appointed to serve in the 23rd Judicial Circuit as a Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and a resumé to Mrs. Harris by May 24, 2024. Council will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. for any interested citizens to speak. The names of all applicants must be provided for appointment consideration per the Code of Virginia.
