Fire and EMS Respond to Fire at West Main Big Lots

The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a fire at the Big Lots retail store located at 1227 West Main Street this morning, at approximately 10:39 a.m. The fire was contained to a storage room in the back of the building, however, the store did sustain some smoke damage.

The Salem Sheriff’s Office has received several citizen inquiries about phone calls they are receiving related to jury duty in the city. The scammers are telling citizens that they have failed to report for jury duty and must adhere to certain instructions.

Police Make Arrest in Child Pornography Case

On Friday, March 18, Brian T. McKay, 35, of Salem was arrested and charged with 23 felony counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest is directly tied to an ongoing child pornography investigation that is being conducted by the Salem Police Department.

Police Make Arrest in Recent Rash of Burglaries

On Sunday, March 6, the Salem Police Department made an arrest in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries and a residential burglary in the West Club area of Salem. At approximately 11 p.m. that Sunday, police received a complaint asking them to investigate a suspicious male subject who was seen entering vehicles in the 100 block of Sawyer Drive.

Police Make Arrests in Delinquency Case

On Sunday, January 10, at approximately 3:40 a.m., the Salem Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Stonegate Drive in reference to a report of underage drinking. The complaint came from a juvenile female who told officers that she and several other juveniles were consuming alcohol that was being provided by adults, who also were present in the residence.

Fire and EMS Respond to 911 Call at Salem Frame

The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a fire tonight at approximately 7:37 p.m. at Salem Frame Company, which is located at 1972 Industrial Dr. The fire was contained to a piece of equipment inside the building, but the structure did sustain moderate smoke damage. There were no injuries.
