Adam S. Lee, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Richmond Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced that Richmond FBI’s 2015 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) recipient is Tom Bowers, Commonwealth Attorney for Salem, Virginia.

Salem’s Police Officer of the Year for 2015 is an individual whose keen powers of observation and tremendous attention to detail helped keep our citizens safe and secure, even when he wasn’t on the clock.

On Saturday, February 6, the Salem Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Reece Road in reference to a suspicious subject entering an abandoned structure.

The City of Salem Real Estate Department has completed the 2016 General Reassessment of all real property located in the City of Salem. Reassessment notices were mailed on January 8.

Salem Police Chief, Tim Guthrie, announced his retirement in a staff meeting this morning after serving Salem’s citizens as a valued member of the Police Department for the past 34 years. His departure, which has been in the works for the past several months, will take effect at the end of January.
