The new Children’s Garden at the Salem Public Library is now open. They have a raised garden beds for a flower garden and a salsa garden. The salsa garden will produce seeds to keep the seed library sustainable. There is a raised garden with a dino dig inside. Inside the dino dig is a mixture of sand and soil to allow children to easily excavate the “fossils” hidden inside. Around the garden is a chalk board table and a seating area to play on or listen to book readings. Children can also check out nature toys to play with!
Surrounding the garden is a StoryWalk with the pages from a popular children’s story. Each story will be chosen seasonally by the librarians. The StoryWalk signs and garden beds were designed and constructed by a local Boy Scout, Ben Kessel.
