The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department will open its 2018 outdoor movie season at Longwood Park on Friday, May 11. “The Jungle Book” - the 2016 edition of Rudyard Kipling’s Walt Disney Classic starring Neel Sethi as Mowgli and the voices of Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johansson and Ben Kingsley - will begin at dusk, around 8:15 p.m., and admission is free.
This year’s other featured movies for the summer of 2018 include ”Moana” on June 15, “Wonder” on July 13 and “CoCo” on August 17.
The first 50 families to arrive for each feature presentation will receive a free bag of popcorn or chips courtesy of Frito Lay. Food and drinks will be available to purchase at the Fun Times concession stand and everyone is welcome to bring chairs and a blanket. These events are designed for the entire family to enjoy a night at the movies under the stars.
The 2018 Movies at Longwood season is sponsored by MedExpress Urgent Care of Salem and the Salem Kiwanis Club. No roller blades, skateboards or pets are allowed on the premises. For additional information, call Salem Parks and Recreation at 375-3057.
