The City of Salem’s Holiday celebrations will once again be plentiful early in December. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting will officially get the festivities started on Friday, December 1, at 6 p.m. at the Salem Farmers Market. The annual Christmas Parade and the Gingerbread Festival will also take place that weekend. Lighting of the City of Salem Christmas Tree
Come join us for the Annual Lighting of the City of Salem Christmas Tree on Friday, December 1, 6 p.m. at the Salem Farmers Market. This is a fun tradition that brings the community together in the downtown area to view the beautiful decorations on Main Street. and enjoy holiday music just before the Salem Christmas Parade begins at 6:30 p.m.
Gingerbread Festival at the Library
The Salem Parks and Recreation Department and the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce present this year’s Gingerbread Festival at the Salem Public Library on Saturday, December 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check out the incredible culinary creations, take a photo with Santa, warm-up at the fire pits and enjoy children’s activities, vendors and games.
Salem Crafty Christmas with Parkway Brewing & Craft Artisans CANCELLED
The Salem Farmers Market, the Salem Public Library and the Salem Parks and Recreation Department are proud to introduce a brand new holiday event this December - “Salem Crafty Christmas” on Saturday, December 9. This event will take place on both sides of Main Street and feature more than 40 crafters on one side and craft beer from Salem’s own Parkway Brewing Company on the other. While the market hosts our talented artisans, Library Square will welcome another edition of Parkway Downtown featuring food by Long Fin Grill and music by Half Moon.
Downtown shoppers also can pick-up a “Passport” at the Salem Farmers Market Information table that Saturday. Once they get it stamped by four participating merchants, they can turn it back in at the Market before 3 p.m. and be eligible for door prizes. Participating merchants in the Downtown area will also have their holiday window displays judged by the Salem Garden Club, and the Salem Chorale Society will be strolling through downtown caroling.
