Firefighters Respond to Burger King Fire

The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a structure fire at 815 West Main St. this afternoon at approximately 4:05 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the Burger King fast food restaurant, located at that address, they found heavy fire coming from an exhaust vent. The building was evacuated and there were no injuries, as a result of the fire.

The first units arrived within two minutes of receiving the call and spotted flames on the roof. Firefighters determined that the fire was concentrated in the exhaust duct work of one of the broilers. They were able to contain the fire to that area and keep the rest of the building from sustaining any damage.

Approximately 24 personnel from the Salem Fire & EMS Department (Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Medic 801, Medic 802, Medic 803, Medic 804, Battalion 1 & Fire Medic 1) responded to the call

The Salem Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the fire to be accidental and has set the damage estimate at $30,000.
