After opening the 2019 outdoor movie season at Salem Memorial Ballpark in May, the Salem Parks and Recreation Department is back home at Longwood Park for the remainder of the summer. On Friday, June 14, the Walt Disney animated picture “Ralph Breaks the Internet” will be the featured attraction. The 2018 release showcases the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Taraji B. Henson and Jane Lynch. The movie will begin at dusk, around 8:30 p.m., and admission is free.
This year’s other movies for the summer of 2019 include ”Christopher Robin” on July 12 and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” on August 16.
The Fun Times concession stand will be giving away free popcorn during the movies and have other concession items available for purchase. These events are designed for the entire family to enjoy a free night at the movies under the stars, so everyone is welcome to bring chairs and a blanket.
The 2019 Movies at Longwood season is sponsored by the Salem Kiwanis Club and The Rug Mattress and Furniture Store of Salem, which is also bringing some chairs to the shows. At each movie, the store will provide the “Best Seat in The House” for a lucky moviegoer. No roller blades, skateboards or pets are allowed on the premises.
