Salem Resilience Circle

Event date: 12/12/2019 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Export event

This fall, the Salem Library is launching a new venue for building resilience through positive discussion and fellowship for individuals 50 and older who:

  • find themselves out of work OR
  • are underemployed and financially incapable of retiring OR
  • have diminished or nonexistent income

Topics to be discussed include:

  • ways to improve financial security
  • stress reduction techniques
  • emotional first aid tips

The first meeting will be an orientation session to:

  • introduce the facilitator, the members, the concepts of resilience circles, and the ground rules for the Circle
  • outline the topics to be discussed over the 12 weeks of the Circle
  • review the assignment for the next week’s Circle (reading and/or other exercises)

Subsequent meetings will include:

  • review and discussion of the assigned material and/or exercises
  • a short break
  • group activities to reinforce tips, techniques, and concepts discussed
  • review of next week’s assignment
  • closing activity

At the end of the 12-week session, the group members will decide if they want to continue meeting and, if so, what topics they would like to see discussed.
