The Salem Fire Department Technical Rescue Team is comprised of approximately 25 men and women who are trained in a multitude of different disciplines including Swift Water Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structural Collapse Rescue and Wide Area Search and Rescue.

The team is a deploy-able component of the Virginia Division 6 Urban Search and Rescue Team. The team is comprised of regional cooperation from Salem Fire-EMS, Roanoke Fire EMS, Roanoke County Fire & Rescue and Franklin County Public Safety. Our team has been worked on multiple natural disasters such as floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes. We have responded across the commonwealth as well as other states to provide assistance. By working together, we work to save lives and provide a service second to none.
