The City of Salem Pickleball courts are located between Oakey Field and the Salem Museum on East Main Street. They are currently open from sunrise to 11 p.m. during the summer months. Hours may vary depending on the weather during the winter months.
City departments refurbished tennis courts into Pickleball courts during the summer of 2018. Similar to tennis, Pickleball features two or four players using paddles and a hollow ball on a smaller court. The six courts opened with great anticipation along with a complete new parking area that serves not only the courts, but the museum and Oakey Field. Taking just under 4 months to complete, it was a cooperative effort between the Street & General Maintenance and Electric Departments and Parks & Recreation. More improvements to the area are in the works including a pavilion, water fountains and landscaping.
