The City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department will open its 2017 outdoor movie season at Longwood Park on Friday, May 12. “The Jungle Book” – the 2016 edition of the Walt Disney Classic featuring the voices of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken will begin at dusk, around 8:15 p.m., and admission is free.
This year’s featured movies also include - ”The Secret Life of Pets” on June 9, “Finding Dory” on July 14 and “Angry Birds” on August 18.
The first 50 families to arrive for each feature presentation will receive a free bag of popcorn or chips courtesy of Frito Lay. Food and drinks will be available to purchase at the concession stand and everyone is welcome to bring chairs and a blanket. These events are designed for the entire family to enjoy a night at the movies under the stars.
The 2017 Movies at Longwood season is sponsored by MedExpress Urgent Care of Salem and presented by the Salem Parks and Recreation Department. No roller blades, skateboards or pets are allowed on the premises. For additional information call Salem Parks and Recreation at 375-3057.
