Police Make Arrest in Recent Rash of Burglaries

On Sunday, March 6, the Salem Police Department made an arrest in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries and a residential burglary in the West Club area of Salem. At approximately 11 p.m. that Sunday, police received a complaint asking them to investigate a suspicious male subject who was seen entering vehicles in the 100 block of Sawyer Drive.

The responding officers used the witness description of the suspect and were able to locate him a short distance away on Niblick Drive. The subject was in possession of suspected stolen property when Salem Police caught him.

After further investigation, 34-year-old Jesse Terry of Roanoke was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Grand Larceny and one count of Vehicle Burglary. Terry was transported to the Roanoke County/Salem Jail where he was held without bond.

On March 8, after continued investigation into additional larcenies, including two purses that were stolen and two residential burglaries which occurred between February 27 and March 6, Salem Police identified Jesse Terry as the offender in these crimes, as well. As a result of this investigation, Terry was charged with the following additional offenses:

Vehicle Burglary (1 count) in the 100 block of Niblick Drive

Vehicle Burglary (1 count) in the 100 block of Par Drive

Grand Larceny (1 count) in the 100 block of Par Drive

Residential Burglary (1 count) in the 100 block of Eagle Drive

Vehicle Burglary (2 counts) in the 100 block of Eagle Drive

Grand Larceny (1 count) in the 1500 block of Azalea Street

Residential Burglary (1 count) in the 1400 block of Azalea Street

Vehicle Burglary (1 count) in the 2800 block of Titleist Drive

Grand Larceny (1 count) in the 800 block of W. Main Street

Credit Card Theft (7 counts) in the 800 block of W. Main Street

Grand Larceny (1 count) in the 1800 block of W. Main Street

Credit Card Theft (2 counts) in the 1800 block of W. Main Street

Credit Card Fraud (1 count) in the 1800 block of W. Main Street

In all, Terry has been charged with 19 felonies and six misdemeanors. He remains in custody at the Roanoke County/Salem Jail without bond.
