VDOT to Discuss Diuguids Bridge Replacement

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a “Pardon Our Dust” public information meeting to discuss the replacement of the Route 760 Diuguids Lane bridge over the Roanoke River in Roanoke County. The bridge is located at the Salem city limits near Route 760’s intersection with West Riverside Drive.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fort Lewis Elementary School, which located at 3115 West Main Street in Salem. The meeting will be held in an “open house” format with no formal presentation given. Citizens can attend at their convenience to speak with VDOT staff about the project.

During construction, traffic will be detoured for 45 days starting in late January or early February 2022. Drivers will use Mill Lane or West Riverside Drive to detour and return to Diuguids Lane. The bridge was built in 1961 and has reached the end of its service life.
