Salem City Council is beginning the process of filling the Salem School Board seat that is open due to the unexpected passing of Dr. Michael Chiglinsky. The Board's Vice Chairman was first appointed to the School Board in 2009 and assumed his leadership post in 2013. He passed away on April 13 at the age of 65. Chiglinsky's current term runs until the end of this 2021 calendar year, and Council is seeking citizens who would be interested in serving out the remainder of his term.
The official legal announcement for this process can be found below, and anyone with questions can contact Laura Lea Harris, Salem's Deputy Clerk of Council, at 378-0172 or at llharris@salemva.gov. Council will address this appointment at a public hearing on Monday, May 24.
