If you have seen the transformation on College Avenue, you know that the finished product of the first phase of our Downtown Revitalization is amazing. You also know that these types of projects do not happen overnight.
So we ask that you exercise patience and encourage others to “Pardon our Progress” for Phase II. This phase began on September 1, and for the next few months crews will be working in the East Main Street area between the Salem Farmers Market on Broad Street and the alley beside Old Salem Brewing Company, across from the Salem Public Library..
As a result of this work, THERE WILL BE TIMES WHEN WESTBOUND TRAFFIC ON MAIN STREET IS DETOURED at Market Street, down Clay Street and back to Broad Street. This detour will not be a constant, but it will happen when needed to protect workers and often it will be unannounced.
