Councilman H. Hunter Holliday III was officially sworn in as a first-year member of Salem City Council on January 9, 2023 by Circuit Judge Chris Clemons. Holliday received 3,809 votes in the November 2022 election marking the most votes received by a Salem City Council Candidate in Salem's 52-year history.
Currently the CEO of Veteran Events and Training, LLC, a Salem-based Events Management Company, Holliday graduated from Salem High School in 1979. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army, Virginia Air National Guard and United States Army Reserve from 1981-2018 with 36 years service retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During that time, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Elon University in 1990.
Holliday serves on the Roanoke Valley Transportation Planning Organization Board and the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission.
Holliday and his wife, Amy, have two children and two grandchildren.
