Important Note Re: Fitness Classes
The cost for 1 class is $30 for two months. If taking 2 fitness classes per week, the cost is $50 for 2 months. If taking 3 or more, the cost is $70 for 2 months. City of Salem & Salem Schools employees are half-price for fitness classes. Drop-ins are welcome at $5 per class. Instructors are trained to modify exercises for beginner levels. All fitness classes are ongoing. Payment is made on a 2-month schedule (September to October, November to December, January to February, March to April, May to June, and July to August). Come to class, fill out a form the first time, then pay the instructor.
Yoga is a great way to increase joint mobility, improve muscle tone and flexibility, and build balance. It also improves memory, focus, and attention, as well as promotes an overall sense of well-being.

- When: Tuesdays and Fridays, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
- Where: Salem Senior Center (110 Union Street)
Please bring the instructor a check made payable to the City of Salem at the beginning of each session.
Chair yoga is modified yoga poses that can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who lack the mobility to move easily from seated to floor positions. Excellent for seniors who are not mobile or adults who have had knee or hip replacements or other health issues and cannot make the transition to the floor.
- Cost: $20 for 1 class per 6-week session; $30 for both per week

Classes are ongoing, call 375-3054 to find out the beginning and end dates of each 6-week session. Bring the instructor a check payable to the City of Salem or make payment in the Senior Center Main Office.
This class is designed to reduce body fat and sculpt muscles through a series of strength training exercises using bands, free weights, and more. This is a great program for any level participant.

- When: Wednesdays, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
- Where: Salem Senior Center, 110 Union Street
Description: Body weight training combined with interval and strength circuits to maximize calorie burn and train all aspects of physical fitness. Also includes functional movement training by integrating movements that train your body and muscles to work synergistically together and mimic life movement to help improve balance, coordination, and agility. Can be modified for any fitness level.
- Cost: As a part of the fitness classes through Salem Parks and Recreation, classes are charged on a two-month basis. November to December, January to February, March to April, etc.
- $30 for one class per week
