ATHLETICS:

YOUTH SPRING SPORTS LEAGUES
Games begin for most spring sports leagues the week of April 23, 2012.  To view youth baseball and boys soccer schedules please click here. To view girls youth softball (10A-14A) please click here.

ADULT SOFTBALL:  REGISTRATION DEADLINE - MAY 3, 2012
Registration is underway for any team wanting to participate in one of our Adult Softball Leagues. The following leagues will be offered:  Men's Open, Church Open, Co-Ed Church Open. Games will begin on Tuesday, May 29 and run through August.  Please review the information below or call the Sports Office at 375-4094 if you have any other questions.   

  • Only team registrations are accepted.
  • Teams may either register in person at the Sports Office or online by clicking here.  League entry fee must be submitted at the time of registration.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

SALEM AFTER FIVE - FRIDAY, MAY 18TH
Salem Farmers Market, "Key West", Children's Play Area and Food Court, Admission: $5/children 12 and under free. Sponsored by Salem Parks & Recreation, Q99-FM, Pepsi and Aaron's. Proceeds benefit Community Christmas Store.  NEW this year - We will be raffling one item donated by Aaron's during each Salem After Five. The May 18th raffle will be for a Dyson Vacuum. A Phillips Blue-Ray 1000W Home Theater System was given out at the last Salem After Five Concert!! Raffle tickets will be $1 each and will be sold at the Salem Parks & Recreation Main Office (620 Florida Street) and Aaron' (the week of the concert as well as during the concert. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Salem Parks & Recreation. Please click here if you would like more information.

MOVIES AT LONGWOOD - SUNDAY, MAY 27TH
Longwood Park, Featuring "The Smurfs", FREE ADMISSION!! Begins at dark, bring a blanket and chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars, the first 50 families will receive a free bag of popcorn from Frito Lay. Food will be available to purchase from Fun Times.


Program Magazine
Magazines are mailed directly to Salem residents via bulk mail 3 times per year. Each magazine contains information on programs being offered, activity costs and fees. Magazines are mailed as follows:

  • Fall: August
  • Winter/Spring: December
  • Summer: March

 


About Salem Parks and Recreation

The Department of Parks and Recreation provides the citizens of Salem with year-round programs and activities, which are geared for all ages. Programs are divided into: Senior Citizens Center, James I. Moyer Sports Complex/Kiwanis Field, Adult Sports, Youth Sports, Community Activities and Special Events. The programs are operated with a full-time staff of 16 and a number of part-time staff such as field maintenance workers, instructors, game officials, summer special event workers, summer interns, sports clinic leaders and volunteer coaches.

Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of citizens through professionally managed recreation programs, tournaments, and special events that foster economic impact, promote healthy lifestyles, social interaction, and civic pride among participants.
