Apply online now for this job, download an employment application to mail or fax to us, or return to job listings Job Title: Food Service Worker Department: Civic Center Salary: $7.25 to $12.01 per hour based upon experience Type: Part-Time General Definition and Conditions of Work: Sets up banquets, stocks concession stands, takes care of vending machines and runs errands; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. Requires the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, extreme heat, noise and hazards. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Essential Functions/Typical Tasks: Sets up banquets, stocks concession stands, takes care of vending machines and runs errands. Sets up and breaks down rooms for parties or banquets; Ensures that customers receive everything ordered on a timely basis; Ensures that there is enough food on the buffet line and that it is refilled as needed; Stocks concession stands and drink machines at the various civic facilities, and ensures that sufficient materials are available to re-stock machines; Cooks corndogs, pretzels, hamburgers, chili and other fare for concession stands; Assists with food preparation in the kitchen; Runs errands to pick up and deliver linen produce, food orders, bank deposits, etc.; Opens and closes the kitchen during events; periodically removes money from vending machines; Cleans up kitchen and concession stands; Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some knowledge of the nature of operations at the Citys civic facilities ; some knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, and guests; ability to work long hours while standing and under high temperature conditions; ability to perform all contact in a cordial, effective, and professional manner; Education and Experience: High school diploma (or GED) and some related experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
