Application Process for Building Permits
When applying for different permits the following items are required:
Residential Building Permit New Construction
- Two (2) sets of plans
with braced wall panels on drawings and worksheet for each panel number
- Completed application
- Shrink-swell soil test results
- If located in the floodplain, preconstruction Certificate of Elevation*
- Certified plat showing all easements, existing structures, and proposed structures
- Erosion and Sediment Control Permit from the Engineering Department
Residential Building Permit Existing (Addition/Alteration/Demolition)
- Two (2) sets of plans
with braced wall panels on drawings and worksheet for each panel number
- Completed application
- If located in the floodplain, preconstruction Certificate of Elevation*
- Certified plat showing all easements, existing structures, and proposed structures
- Erosion and Sediment Control Permit from the Engineering Department
Commercial Building Permit New Construction
- Three (3) sets of sealed (Architect or Engineer) plans, including all electrical, mechanical and plumbing drawings
- Approved site plan
- Shrink-swell soil test results
- Completed application
- If located in the floodplain, Preconstruction Certificate of Elevation*
- Erosion and Sediment Control Permit from the Engineering Department
Commercial Building Permit Existing (Addition/Upfit)
- Three (3) sets of sealed (Architect or Engineer) plans, including all electrical, mechanical and plumbing drawings
- Completed application
- Approved site plan (if needed)
- Asbestos certification
- Accessability compliance
*Please note, if a Preconstruction Certificate of Elevation is required, then before a certificate of occupancy is issued, we must receive a Postconstruction Certificate of Elevation.
