Saturday evening at approximately 5:45p.m., Salem Police along with Salem Fire and EMS responded to a traffic incident in the 400 block of Colorado Street involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, police determined that the individual who had been struck was a 7-year-old boy.
The investigation revealed that a 2003 silver Ford Taurus was traveling south on Colorado Street when the child ran out into the roadway and was hit by the vehicle. The young boy was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the crash. No charges have been placed at this time.
