Salem Police have identified the victims in Saturday’s vehicle accident on Wildwood Road. The operator of the motorcycle, Barry Wayne Capps, 66, from Whitsett, North Carolina, died in the crash and his wife, Shelby Amick Capps, 66, was injured in the accident.

On Saturday, October 5, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Salem Police Department responded to an accident with injuries on Wildwood Road - Route 112 – near the road’s intersection with Horner Lane. The accident involved a 2006 Dodge Charger that was driven by Linda Ann McPherson, 66, of New Castle and a motorcycle being ridden by the Capps. Both vehicles were headed south on Wildwood Road at the time of the accident.

Mr. & Mrs. Capps were transported to local hospitals, where the driver of the motorcycle, Mr. Capps, was later pronounced dead. McPherson also was transported to a local hospital. There is no update on the condition of the survivors of the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time and the accident is still under investigation.
