John R. Brown, Jr., a 23-year-old from Roanoke, has been arrested in connection with the 7-Eleven robbery that occurred on E. Main Street late last month.
On May 26, at approximately 10:58 p.m., officers from the Salem Police Department responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store located in the 1700 block of E. Main St. in reference to a reported Armed Robbery. Upon the officers’ arrival, they were advised by the store clerk that two masked men had entered the store and one of the suspects was brandishing a firearm.
The suspects demanded money from the clerk, who complied with their ultimatum. During the course of the robbery, a second store employee was struck in the head by one of the suspects and robbed of personal property.
Both suspects left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency, merchandise and personal property.
After a subsequent investigation that was conducted by Salem and Roanoke City Police Departments, Brown was arrested today, June 10. Brown, who is incarcerated on an unrelated charge, was served with his warrants at the Roanoke City Jail for the following charges:
-Grand Larceny 2 counts
-Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 2 counts
-Possess Firearm by Felon
-Use of Firearm in Commission of Felony
-Conspiracy to Commit Robbery
-Wear Mask to Conceal Identity
Brown is being held without bond in the Roanoke City Jail.
